Taste of Laos is a family style Laos cuisine pickup service. We are located in Lake Country, BC. We offer a variety of Laos dishes that are made with fresh ingredients and authentic Laos recipes. Some of the most famous Laotian dishes include sticky rice (Lao: ເຂົ້າໜຽວ)

Laos food is the cuisine of the Lao ethnic group, which is distinct from other Southeast Asian cuisines.

Sticky rice is considered the essence of what it means to be Lao.

Sticky rice is generally preferred over jasmine rice, and sticky rice cultivation and production is thought to have originated in Laos.

Larb
(Minced meat salad)

This is one of the ultimate staple Laos foods, Always fresh, this dish is a mainstay in the Laos local diet. The meat while adding fish sauce, a garden full of fresh herbs, including Laos mint, cilantro, garlic, chili, and green onions, lime juice, and toasted sticky rice powder, which is the ingredient that gives larb its signature flavor. All ingredients are mixed until everything is perfectly even.

Tam som
(Green papaya salad)

Tam som is a spicy green papaya salad, mixed with garlic, tomatoes, ground peanuts, crab, and fish sauce. The crunchy greens, chili and lime sauce, and crisp toppings make it a must-try. The varieties are plentiful and can include various additions. The sauce can also appear in many other combinations, and can significantly vary in sweetness and spiciness.

Sticky Rice

Sticky rice is one of Laos’ national cuisine. It is eaten at every meal, every time of the days in Laos. In fact, the Laotians eat more sticky rice than any other nation in the world as they believe that sticky rice is meant to holds the communities of Laos together. The Lao also referred themselves as “descendants of sticky rice”.

Khao Piak Sen
Noodle Soup

Khao Piak Sen is kind of Lao noodle soup with layers of flavor which can be easily found in almost every street corner of Laos. This soup can also be served with beef or pork and a handful of the greens and various vegetables instead. In local style, this bowl can even go with a few innards such as heart, liver and tongue. For a quick meal but still tasty, this is a right choice.

Sien Savanh
Beef Jerky

The beef jerky in Laos is made with beef flank steak, sometimes water buffalo meat is used, marinated with garlic, fish sauce, ginger, sugar, salt and pepper. It is then left to dry in sunlight and deep fried until lightly crispy. This dish is usually topped off with sesame seeds, served with sticky rice and a Beerlao – a good combination. You can also buy them home as a delicious food gift from Laos.

Dipping Sauce

Jaew is one of the main staples of Laos food which refers the dipping sauces for every Laos dishes. This dish always contain chili peppers and perfectly suits with many Laotian dishes such as steamed fish, grilled meat, vegetables, sticky rice
